What does the valve cover say?

Also post what stamp is on the head, you should be able to tell the diff from that.

Vtec-e models sometimes say vtec-e on the valve cover depending on the year, VX style exhaust manifold. tiny intake manifold and throttlebody, EGR valve, 5 wire O2 sensor. 3 stage can be identified by the double vtec solenoid.
Screw you Honda-Tech, i'm gonna start my own Honda forum, with porn and zeroforum! Oh wait, thats NWP.

The 92-95 D15b will have a P08 head. The 96-00 D15b will have a P2J head. 96-00 will have 2 vtec solenoids because it utilizes 12v, 16v, and high lift modes. Both are marked "D15b", no other numbers or letters.

The vtec-e models sold in the US are the d15z1 and d16y5. Again, the z1 has a P08 head and the y5 has a P2J head, but the engine stamps designate those motors from the get go...

vtec e on a d15 usually comes in vx models and the ecu kicks vtec in at like 2k rpms for efficiency hence "e" this engine also has an egr valve and like the other guys said the intake is very small with only like a 1" baby throttle body. My buddy had one of these swapped to a 1.6 ex intake and swapped a p28 and the thing actually ran pretty strong for a 1.5 in mostly stock form.
