It's really nice. I love the way it fits and looks. Only down side is that it isn't FIA approved but that really shouldn't be an issue because I don't think I will ever be doing any wheel to wheel racing in this car.

The last track day of the year was pretty awesome. A lot of my friends were all driving their cars and there were a ton of other Honda's so it made for a great day. I have more pictures to post but I made this video of me chasing Kyle in his EF. My friend who was watching also took this picture. I think this is right where I get the point by from Kyle.

Thanks! Definitely some ups and downs but hoping it's all figured out now so I can focus on some different changes over the winter.

One of my friends from work came to watch us and he brought along his camera and took a few pictures throughout the day.

These are 2 of my favorites.

As far as how the track day went, besides the Mustang that dumped coolant all over which took over an hour to clean up, it was one of the best days at the track yet. We got a ton of track time and were all able to run together which was a lot of fun. I also dropped another half of a second which puts my fastest lap at 1:15.7.

Here is the link to my fast lap.

I was able to drop 2 seconds from my fastest time last year which was 1:17.8. Since I already built the motor I don't think I will be getting more power out of it anytime soon so this winter I am going to focus on the chassis setup to help with grip and handling to help lower my times next year. I may also try to drop some more weight from the car...

With all the NWP pictures popping up on Instagram and my friends talking about it, I realized I haven't updated this thread since the last track day. Although I haven't really driven the car since then there have been some big changes going on.

The first of them being the motor situation. This is how the car looks as of now.

I really had no plans of touching the motor at all this winter but this all started one night when I decided to just check and see how the cams and rockers were looking. I was 99% sure that I had fixed the issue but to my surprise the cams and rockers on the same two cylinders were wearing away again even after only one track day. At this point I was extremely frustrated with this motor and have spent enough time and money trying to figure this issue out and decided to just build a whole new head to eliminate the chance of this happening again. I actually bought a spare GSR head a few months ago to use just for the rockers so it wasn't too big of a deal to clean this one up and use it.

I spent some time cleaning out the ports and combustion chambers and sent it off to get surfaced. My plan for the winter was just going to be putting a new final drive in the trans and since I knew I would be pulling the head as well I figured it would just be easier to pull the whole motor out. With the help of two friends I had it out in no time. A couple days later I got around to pulling the head and to my surprise this is what the cylinder walls looked like.

With only about 2,000 miles on the motor I have no idea what could have caused this. The only thing that we noticed was that the piston to wall gap looks huge and you can actually rock the piston back and forth a good amount. I asked the machine shop to set it at 3.5 thou which is what JE calls for with these pistons. I don't really have the tools to verify so I just trusted that they got it right.

At this point I was pretty frustrated with the entire motor and thought that maybe I should just take a step back and start fresh. I know it sounds odd but I compare every motor I ever had to an old B16 that I had years ago. I picked it up at a local importer and threw it into my old Midori hatch without touching a thing, not even new spark plugs. I daily drove it for four years and never had one issue with it. The only real modification I did was a set of Type R cams which really made a huge difference even with the stock P30 ECU. It ran great all the way until the day I sold it and although I don't regret selling any of my cars I do really miss that motor.

Here are a couple pictures of it along with a time slip from 2008. I used to run 14.0XX's all day with it and it was really fun when other people at the track with GSR and Type R swaps found out I was beating them and only had a B16. The stock rusty header made it even better.

Aaaaanyway, enough reminiscing. The point of the story is that against all of my friends advice I am going to build a simple B16 for next year. My plan is that it will be pretty inexpensive to build and will be extremely reliable and fun on the track. I am going to run OEM pistons, cams, and may even run it on a stock computer. I know it will be down on torque and horsepower compared to my old motor but hopefully the final drive will make it not so noticeable. I think I am leaning more towards the 4.9 instead of the 4.7 but I haven't really decided yet.

Ya it really has been frustrating. That is why I am getting away from this motor for now. It's one thing if I made a mistake and knew what the problem was but when you can't figure out why it's happening and have to keep replacing parts it starts to add up.
