InsidiousDC2R's VSM ITR build thread

Not sure if you already did the VIN verification. I suggest finding a third party org on Yelp that will do the verification without needing to do an appointment at the DMV. It’s a small fee and they usually travel to you.

Build has been at a bit of a stand still. The shop that’s been building my block has been lagging hard, closing in on 4 months since I ordered it :-1:. He’s saying it should be done in the next couple of weeks so let’s hope that’s the case.

I did upgrade my KPRO to V4 though.

Good to know man, I ended up doing it through the DMV and the guy was pretty chill. Gave me a bit of crap for having a japanese emissions sticker under the hood lol but I told him these cars were built in Japan :joy:

Man this thread has been been dead but I promise things are starting to pick back up. Couple of things that have been added…

Picked up a First Molding hood a few days ago. I had my painter set aside some extra paint from when the car was painted, so I will be dropping off the hood to be paint matched. Being I have a bit of CF on the car, I’m gonna have it sprayed over the kevlar section as it would look off in my opinion.

It bugged me that just about all the large holes in the engine bay had a plug except for the ones near the headlights, so I found a grommet that fit nice and snug. I punched a small hole for the headlight harnesses and installed.

K24 block is “set” to ship next week, not holding my breath but praying it finally gets shipped. Will update when it’s in.

Block has finally arrived, 7 months later and it still wasn’t complete with what I ordered. I opened the package only to find that the modded PRB oil pump was missing. Note to anyone out there, KMOD Performance has terrible wait times (was supposed to be a 6 week turnaround) and customer service. Save the headache and go elsewhere.

Shame to hear that long of wait and still arrived incomplete. I was looking at one of their trans rebuilds but decided against it.

Have they offered any money back or a pump to make you even for what you spent?

As soon as I opened the box and noticed, I messaged him asking for a refund for the missing oil pump. What pisses me off more is that before it shipped, I had asked if the pump would be installed or be put aside in the box and I never got a reply.

I didn’t wanna deal with the guy any longer and wait another few months probably to get it. He said that Honda has had them on backorder, but that’s bullshit as he’s had 7 months to get one. Messaged him 2 days In a row about processing my refund and didn’t get a reply till this morning but it did get refunded.
Ordered an oil pump kit from HPTautosport and should be here next week.

Thats some bull. I get they might be busy but a bit of communication is upfront isn’t hard. Glad they refunded it atleast.

Progress!
Oil pump kit came in

Also got the ARP studs installed and torqued down the head.

Came across a small set back as one of the rocker arm assemblies had the roller bearing go bad. Was able to order a set from the dealer so will have to wait for that to come in to get the timing done.

You’ll be there in no time.

What are you going to use for an oil cooler?

That’s actually one of the backorder parts I’m waiting for. The OEM oil cooler. Was gonna use the one off the old K20A but since I spun a bearing on that motor, was told there’s a good chance bearing material could be stuck inside and it’s just safer to buy a new one.

You know I had to get some work in this weekend! Need to pick up some fluids after work this week but should be able to start it up soon.

Had been lagging on installing the Racebred splitter. Still need to make some adjustments and possibly add an air dam but not too shabby!

Also some engine bay shots now that all the components are in place.

Looks so good! I bet you are excited

Definitely man. The last time I got it running with the K20A, it only lasted about 2 months before it went back in for surgery lol.
