4th gen civic hatch build, Access bodykit

Recieved a few small packages this week, one where a set of oem corners to replace the orange ones that came on the car when I bought it.

And the other package was from C’s Customizing, got a nobori and a key from him.

Another day at the warehouse, managed to finish sanding the inside of the trunklid and also get that damn bolt out. Taped up the glass on the inside in preperation for epoxyprimer.

Also sanded down the rear filler piece and my front fenders in prep for epoxyprimer.

Put everything in epoxyprimer in the afternoon.

Don’t mind the wing, doing some fiberglass work for my buddy in between my own work.

Also did some work on my slam panel and got some primer on it.

Put my trunk hinges back on the car too after some epoxyprimer. Gonna put the trunklid on it next week hopefully so I am sure of their position before I fasten them completly and after that I can put some seam sealer around them again so no water can get it.

Cleaned up my fan at home and put it on my new radiator, and installed the new gasket for my ignition.

I love where this is going keep it up! Im just about in the same boat. Been trying to find trim pieces and all the other little details on the car

Yeah, that’s a pain. Been trying to find some stuff too but everything I need is discontinued.

It’s getting to a point where I’m thinking of buying another one just to tear down so I can get all my parts I need.

love the attention to detail man, cant wait to see it progress

Thx man, hope I can get some real progress soon with the rear quarters. Been putting it off a bit because I don’t always feel like doing them. Biggest problem is that there is still so much to do I can keep putting of that job. Maybe this weekend, if I feel like it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Wasn’t feeling great 2 weeks ago so decided to just stay home and take some rest so no updates on the car. But I didn’t stop buying parts
Was scrolling through the honda groups I’m in on FB on a sunday night, came across an add that had a Access roofspot for sale for cheap, so messaged the seller right away and made a deal. Mailman just dropped it off today and I could not be happier.

Brand new in box Honda Access.

Also looked for my parking pole I have, not really sure if I’m gonna use it. No idea what make/model it’s from to be honest, already have it for about 10 years in a box so might as well give it a look. If I can make it work, I might just use it.

And last week I bought another set of wheels, was not really planning on doing so since I already have to much wheels and I’m running out of room but I always loved this wheel and never could afford them when they came up for sale. So if you come across a great deal …

They will need some tlc but for the price I paid, I can not complain.

There was a for sale post on FB advertising a set of OEM EE9 side skirts. Immediatly send the seller a message, agreed on a price and friends of mine went to pick it up.
Not really sure I need these for the Access skirts but can’t hurt to have them just in case.

Seller also had the rubber firewall piece where the fuel line comes through so grabbed that aswell. Mine is split so want to replace it. His has an issue too but if I can repair it so I can make a mold of it I can make a new one. Since it’s discontinued at honda, and if I fuck up I still have my original one.

Went to the warehouse for the first time this year. Didn’t really get much done, was mostly there to help my buddy change a bushing in his front lower controle arm. Didn’t pass his inspection so needed to replace it.

But while he was there he could help me put the trunklid back on the civic so I could align it and put the hinges in the correct place and torq them down. Gonna take the trunklid off again next time so I can put seamsealer around the hignes so it’s all water tight again.

Hope I can get alot more done next time, and I hope it’s alot warmer again then. Was freezing today so couldn’t do any bodywork.

Recieved my new shallow radio yesterday and earlier this week I made a holder for my Buddyclub digimeters. Gonna try and get everything in it’s place today, just need to make some plates to screw the fiberglass plate too.

If it all fits nicely I put some suède or other fabric on the fiberglass plate to make it look nice.

Those digimeters look cool, what all are they capable of? I haven’t seen them before.

They are basically just fancy gauges, you can set an alarm to warn for high oil temp and there is a recall button to see what it’s peak was. I have these for about 8 years now I guess and it was just a good excuse to use these on the car. They are discontinued for a good while now from buddyclub.

25 years ago or so when I got into Hondas I wouldn’t have imagined we would be doing full restorations on them like this, but I love it! I’ve followed your work through your Instagram as well, keep pushing!

Thx, great to hear. Wouldn’t have started this one if I didn’t have that Access bodykit, and I will be really glad when I get this thing on the road finally. I can always improve certain area’s later on.

Hope the weather gets a bit a better soon so I can continue on the bodywork, that’s still the biggest job but can’t really do that when it’s freezing outside.

Added a new steering wheel to the collection, buddy of mine had it laying in his garage. It’s a bit rough so I will have it redone at one point, for now it will be put on the shelf next to my Greddy and Tom’s steering wheels.

For the rest progress has almost come to a halt the past few weeks, but started work on my MR5’s refurb again this morning and will do the same with my wooden Access steering wheel, that needs a good sand and a reclear.

Hope I can get some bodywork done on the car this weekend, IF the weather allows it. Freezing temps are not that fun or great to work in with bondo.

Slowly but surely …

Since I’m still pretty much stuck at home I started sanding the faces. Just need to find my sticker removal tool (no idea what it’s called in English) so I can get that decal off.
Hope to get them all done by the end of the month, but still not sure what color I’m gonna make them.

Started on the 3rd face this past week, working about an hour to an hour and a half every day on them because you get pretty sick of sanding fast :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Still not sure what color to make them. Car will be grey and have red Buddyclub seats. Was thinking yellow at first like these

But in the past, when I could not afford these, I always wanted a complete white set, barrel and face, with gold bolts. Also been thinking more of a gunmetal color or even a bronze. What do you guys think ?

3 faces are almost ready for the final stage. Did a quick pass on the inside of a barrel today, lip will be more work.

Going back to the warehouse tomorrow, finally the weather is better, hope I can have a productive day but have stuff to do for my buddy too so we’ll see what I can get done.

Had a semi productive day yesterday, had some fiberglass work to do for my buddy and that took a little more time then expected.

Removed my trunklid from the car again, that was put back to align the hinges. Everything lined up great so then I could put seamsealer around them so it’s all water tight again. While I was working on the back of the car I continued with the wiring for my licenseplate lights and put that in it’s place for now and I installed the gaskets I made a while ago for the tail lights.

Did some small jobs in the engine bay like putting back one of the carb sensors and other stupid little details.

Then I put my rollbar back in the car, needed to take measurements for the feet that mount to the wheeltubs. The original ones where once welded to a car but cut out to small to make holes in them so I can’t mount them. Lucky I did put the whole thing back in the car because the holes in the original feet where in the wrong place and made the rollbar stand on an angle forward. So placed it how it’s suppose to stand and got all my dimensions I needed, now I can get new feet made and then I can prep it for some color too.

Got some more work done yesterday, recieved some materials this past week so I could repair my Access bodykit. Wasn’t sure if it would work so just ordered one set but turns out it works great so will be ordering a couple more later today or tomorrow so I can continue with the repairs next saterday.

Also continued with some wiring, more specific the sunroof ones along with the interior light and also the Access roofspot I have. Unfortunately I can not put them through the pillar because there are already a couple of wires that run through it and the roofdrains. So no real room left for the rest, so they will be running outside the pillar.

I will need to put my sunroof back temporary to be sure of the lenght of the wires and it will all be put it snakeskin so it’s not a giant eyesore.

Put back my glovebox too, so I could see how I need to run the wires for the radio and my gauges.

Took the panel back home with me so I could work on the looks of it this week. And I need to think of a way to get some “storage space” in the car without it being obvious.
