4th gen civic hatch build, Access bodykit

Tested out my brackets and got them all painted black.

Finished up the rear interior harness.

Did some more sanding on the drivers side and yesterday my newest addition to the wheel collection arrived from Japan  Carving Head 40’s

Taking them with me to the warehouse tomorrow to see how they look on the civic.

Congrats and cool pickup with the Carvings complete with center caps. Haven’t seen those in a long time! :grinning:

Tested out the Carvings, don’t look to bad. Just need to find a key for the cap bolts, or have one 3D printed.

And while I was at it, I tested out my spare 16 inch Sa3r. Still want a 15 inch set for this civic but keep spending money on wheels for my Sportcross

Did more sanding and after getting tired of that I took my sliding roof assembly out so I can start cleaning that up, had some rust forming on the drain pipe ends. Need to put it in the car so I can finish up the wiring for that along with the wiring for the maplight.

And lastly got both my foglights on the car so I can wire those up too, just need to buy some more connectors.

Need to pull my dash out again soon because I changed my mind about doing a brake tuck and ordered a DIY set from Downstar.

That will be here this week normally, just need to check if I still have new brakeline left so I can start doing that too. Maybe doing a bit to much at the same time but I hate sanding and don’t want to fuck that up by speeding tru the process and missing certain things and all the rest will keep me busy when I start to get annoyed.

Thx, always like the design and was following a set in 18 inch for my Sportcross but bidding went a bit to crazy for me and then I saw this set for cheap so jumped on it.

Interesting how some things work out. I’ve liked how these wheels are able to give these β€œnewish” cars a retro lowrider look. Hope you find a set for your Sportcross one day. That would be a pretty dope setup! :sunglasses:

Got the prop valve and my brake lines out, just need to cut the rear ones inside but need to check where to best do it so I can route the lines inside that they don’t stand out to much since the inside will not have carpet again.

Still have brake line left from my EG build, so can start mocking up where I want the lines to go but need to take the dash out again first to check on the inside if it all clears.

Ordered a crimping plier so I can finish the mill spec connector. Hope it get’s here fast.

Just an example pic

Had a week off work so attempted to get alot done,

Started with pulling of the front subframe to get my SuperSprint header installed, and correct the washers on the bushings.

Continued with the wiring inside, wires to the sunrrof and the maplight. Pretty much the last piece besides the engine harness that needs to be connected to the mill spec connector.

And started with the braketuck.

Not overly happy with the bend on the lines in the wheelswells so gonna redo those and gonna try to adjust the lines in the bay a bit too. As you can see the oem hardlines I cut on the straight part, was trying to cut and flare them higher up but the shape of the lines is horrible to do that. So put the 90 degree ones on but the lines where sagging a bit so made a bracket to hold them up and make it al little easier to put the flex lines on them too.
Prop valve is behind the center console, still need to build a better bracket for it but for now it’s good so I can do my measurements for the flex lines.

Got the dash pretty much all together to check for clearance underneath and see if nothing is interfiering with other pieces.

Wired up the front foglights, extended the wires for the radio because mine will be in the glovebox and cleaned up the front bumper mount and suspension triangles. Starting to look like a car again. Hope to get to the engine harness soon but they send me crimping pliers for the wrong size pins …

Been busy with loads of things lately but today I finally got some more things done on the 4th gen civic.

Cleaned up the back of the Access door pieces. Removed all the old double sided tape.
Pulled the Chargespeed wing of the trunklid and got it in a single color, makes it easier to find the faults that need fixing.

Got the Chargespeed spoiler sanded down. Looks whole lot better then before, few touch ups to do but it’s getting there. Warehouse looks like a mess again, need to get that sorted soon.

Been a few weeks since I updated here but not that much progress was made to really show. Had a few other things to take care off, the Sportcross needed to be prepped for it’s upcoming tech inspection so suspesion and exhaust had to come off. Been doing some β€œbuilding” in the warehouse too to get it somewhat ready for the winter. Found a great deal on some insulation panels so build a wall out of those so I don’t need to heat up the whole place.

Most of what I did on the car was sanding, doors, quarter panel, Access pieces, … Did the passengers side rear quarter yesterday and got it about 80% to my liking, still a few low spots that need to be fixed. And put the door back on so I could test the Access skirt and door piece.

In the background you can see my β€œwall”

Also got some more parts in, a Bride seat rail I picked up really cheap in Japan because the weld was broken. It’s a JDM drivers side so now I’m on the hunt for a JDM passengers side so I can mount my drivers seat too.

A set of new pedal covers and a parking pole switch.

And my newest addition to wheel collection got here too, set of Work CR Kai’s for the Sportcross.

Little bit of progress over the past few weeks, got myself a new battery since my Varley doesn’t want to charge anymore.

As you can see, the size is a bit different so had to make a new battery stay, and a new mount for the kill switch and digital volt meter because I changed my mind on how I want to finish off the interior quarter panels.

Won a few parts on Yahoo too, a pair of Advan Sa3r’s in 15 inch. Need to hunt for another pair but for the money I paid it was totally worth it. If I find another pair I’ll have sets in 15, 16, 17 and 18 inch

Also found and won a Bride seat rail for my drivers side.

And did some more sanding on the rear quaters but it’s too cold right now to continue on that.

Got some great paint stripper from a collegue so working on my MR5’s again too, they are almost ready for etch primer. And got my new pliers so I can continue on the engine harness. Hope to get that done by the end of the year so I can fire up the engine to make sure that all works. + ready up on putting bike carbs on the car but first I have to get the car running again before I commit to buying the flange adaptor and all the other bits.

Nice pickup on the wheels, hope you can find the 2nd pair! :+1:

How long did the Varley racing battery last you and was it regularly charged? Is the new Landport lighter or same weight?

Thx, If I don’t find another pair I’ll buy a complete set and have these 2 as spares. These where just so cheap I could not pass them up.

The Varley I had for about 10 years, but the last 3 years it wasn’t looked after as needed. The Landport is so light compared to the Varley, I’ll put them both on a scale tomorrow. But I would say the Varley is about 3 times as heavy. The landport is new Lithium technology offcourse.

Last saterday of the year so wanted to get some more stuff done on the civic. Main focus was wiring, and it’s kicking my ass a bit. Lost some of my pictures when I took the car apart and I’m not finding wiring schematics for this engine.

So I took a brake from that and did some other stuff too, placement of my M’s Racing mirrors on the block off plates for starters.

Tried to copy the metal β€œhangers” that are on the Access side skirts, got a test piece made but need to refine it a bit that the corners are a bit charper. This was just some left over metal I had laying around.

And since my radiator isn’t exactly like the old oem version when it comes to mounting location so I need to design some custom radiator brackets aswell or switch to a Mishimoto but I just want to get the car running first. I can always upgrade later on.

Also had both batteries on the scale few weeks ago @nwp4ever the Varley is 6 times heavier

Scale is in kilograms, so that translates to Varley 13.778 lb and the Landport 2.204 lb

In the mean time I found almost all my aswers I needed regarding the wiring so next weekend I hope to get most off it in place and measure the lenght I need for my power cable from the battery to the fuse box so I can get that cable made too.

@Jap-society Happy New Year mate! :grinning: and I’m happy to see any progress when it comes to this car. Love how creative you are taking everything. It’s going to be the only EF that’s like this on the planet when all is said and done! :joy:

I appreciate you weighing the batteries for comparison.

Only 1kg for a Landpart?? that’s like almost nothin’! Hope that thing serves you well. :+1:

Last week I continued messing around with the wiring, got all the wires for the mill spec harness on the car side prepped for the connector but my heatshrink I had wasn’t big enough to go over the connector so had to order some, also ordered some power cables and ends for them so I could put tem all together at work.

Made my power cables this week at work, got some heatshrink and loom around them yesterday so I could put them in the car.

Got the car end of the mill spec connector wired up and put in place.

Next week I hope to get the engine side doen but first I have to figure out where some plugs go on the engine because I have 2 left and for the life of me I can not remember where they go, nor can I see/feel any place they should go. Got a post made on a FB page from the UK where they have alot of these engines so I really hope those guys can help me out.
Also need to take the dash out again so I can tidy up all the wires and take measurements for the flex brake lines for the inside so I can get those ordered also.

Almost forgot I got my order from Gregparts in last week too, cupholder for the ashtray and a block off that was missing in my dash.

Have been busy the past few weeks with the engine side of the harness, needed to search for a couple of sensors on the block because I had a few connectors without a destination. Big thank you to the UK guys on facebook for the help.

Needed to replace one of the power cables because there was some conflict in where I put it and needed to make a longer one so it could be put in a better position. But all wired up now and we have power.

Next on the list is to button up the engine, new fluids and a new gasket for the valve cover. Get the gastank out from under the car so I can flush it and replace the fuel lines on it and maybe give a it a coat of black paint. And then hopefully we can see if the engine will start.

Got a bunch of red label parts in this past week. Should be almost everything I needed to get the engine sealed up.

Hope I can get most of it done tomorrow, and then it will be back to the last bodywork and hopefully paint in april.

Still a few parts I need to get the car started. Hope they arrive this coming week.

Did mount the valve cover and added retaining clips to most of the coolant lines. Few more on the way.

Ordered new brake calipers but they send the wrong ones, hope I get what I ordered now.
Fuel lines on the gastank are new, just need to replace the clips that hold them in place, too corroded for me. New fuel filter and oil filter on the way aswell.

Have a week off work in April so hope to get the all the insides and doorjams painted then, maybe I’ll do the roof in one go too. But that will all depend on the weather offcourse.

It’s been a while since I updated here, loads going on in life so progress has been slow but that doesn’t mean I didn’t get anything done.

Refinishing various trim pieces

Took my doorpanel apart to give it a much cleaner look. Still have to do the drivers side, was my last piece of alcantara at that time. Need to paint the vent piece black.

Sanding and prepping the body for paint.

Started to put the car back together yesterday, rubbers back in the door, window regulator and window in, stuff like that. Gonna continue on that next week.

Got my hands on a set of EP3 front brakes that have been refinished now. Need to order Renault clio discs and EP3 pads, and find a S2000 master brake cilinder.

Also recieved my trumpets and put them on.

Found 2 more 15 inch Advan Sa3r’s so now I have a complete set for this car too  Just need to find some covers and nuts.

And my new windshield came in earlier this week, have a new molding on order along with a few other little pieces that I noticed I need when I started putting things back together.

Hope to get the car rolling next week so I can put it outside and prep the bumpers, Access pieces and other miscellaneous items for paint in the next coming weeks.
The place I have my cars in is getting sold so need to get the car on the road asap. Still have to find a solution for the rest of my stuff that I have there but finding a warehouse here is so difficult and if you find one it’s so expensive.
